Hey all program admins &/or team reps, welcome to the MSLax 2021 youth girl’s lacrosse year! It’s going to be a great year, hopefully better than last year’s COVID-prone play!
The USA is making good progress in getting vaccinations into the arms of citizens, and with continued safety standards of 6’ social distancing & wearing masks, we are more likely to have regular spring and summer seasons! Therefore, we’re going ahead with planning for our year.
Currently, MSHSL has slated high school lacrosse startup to be the week of April 5, only a week later than our usual startup timeframe. Reach out to Julie Carlson with any questions

MSLax is coordinating with YLM & GNLL (HomeGrown) in requiring all lacrosse coaches to be Level 1 fully USL-certified, reason being it is EXCELLENT & SPECIFIC LACROSSE COACHES TRAINING no matter if you have 10+ years of coaching experience in another sport or zero years of coaching experience in lacrosse.
Per our Policies & Procedures located under Board> Policy & Procedures on the MSLax website, all teams must have at least 1 fully USL certified coach on each team & our goal is that all coaches become fully certified this year. USL certification requirements are listed here. The whole certification process should only take about 5 hrs to complete so please get this communication to your coaches to get this Level 1 certification done now before the season starts.
MSLax, GNLL, & YLM also require coaches to complete concussion training every 2 years. This is separate from the US Lacrosse requirements above. Free concussion educational materials can be found here. Associations need to track this locally.
As always we comply with Minnesota Department of Health Guidelines. Right now masks are required to help reduce community spread. Coaches are sensitive to constrictions this may place on athletes. Thank you for embracing this and wear a mask as required by the state.
